What constitutes being a role player, or what are possible roles that would lead to bennies? (aside froms the apparent role playing roles at the national events)

Being an XO is one. Not sure about others.

Well I was aware of the XO being a role play spot, but only because I have been XO and found out afterwards that it was. What I was not sure of, was if there were other positions that were. Also, I felt it may help if more people knew all the roles that need to be filled.
There is much more to these scenarios than the general giving orders to the guys on the field and many people have no clue what goes on behind the front lines. Knowledge of what goes into the Scenarios that we all participate in, has given me a much better appreciation of Scenario ball and why I believe that its the best game since Abner Doubleday's version of real baseball

Commanding is work. Lots of work. Communication, salesmanship, leadership, and effort all play a huge part before the game even starts.
It can be a daunting task for a command staff to assemble and plan to lead a couple hundred people to victory. It should not be taken lightly or unknowingly
I commend anybody that attempts it and thank Splatbrothers heartily for recognizing this.

Being CO of any team, organization, business or society requires more than many realize. The position isnt quite so easy to grasp being the one in the hot seat. As it is for the others looking in, saying "one should have done this" or "they should be doing that" Personally I have a lot of respect for anyone with the gumption to step up and even more for the ones who openly admit they have learned from thier experience. The scary ones are the people that think they already know everything that needs to be done and how to do it. Because, Newton will prove you wrong.

Win or lose it take chutzpah! (how's my yiddish? ;D)
A great commander has understanding, listening skills, patience, desire, motivation, entheusiasm, trust, confidence, humility, and many more difficult traits. I reiterate, it is not easy.
I have seen people in scenario ball (and been one of them in my younger days) who think they've got it all figured out and on lock down. Wrong Answer!
The key remains for every commander to do whatever you can to make sure your troops and the enemy troops too, have an enjoyable time. You want to win. I want to win. We all want to win but the game is more important. It may be someones first, or sadly it may be someones last. Enjoy it!
Play with heart, integrity, honor, sportsmanship and teamwork and you WILL have a good time win or lose!

can i be a medic? isnt that roleplaying? Thats a player role designated at the game. Your benefit is the role of being able to bring out players around you back in. Atleast i dont think they get passes.

We need a plaque on the wall of the field house with the names of all the past Generals...and add to it every game
"DO you think YOUR name will be on THAT plaque?"
"Yes sir!"
"Thats pretty arrogant, considering the company you're in!"
"....Yes sir.................."
" "I LIKE that in a Pilot! Gentlemen, this school is about C O M B A T. There are NO points for second place!"
