While I respect your thoughts on this matter Havoc I do not agree with them. The time of which a person or team Pre regs should have no standing on anything. The fact that one team is able to pre reg right when the chance to do so opens only means they have the money to do so right then while those who wait till the last min. might have done so only because they did not know if they could afford to play. So to ask one team to switch simply because they got their money up 3 weeks before the deadline would be a bit unfair in it self. If teams are goin to asked to switch what should count is the size, skill, and equipment of the team. and i do not mean regular paintball equipment either. I mean things like Laws and night Vision. If 6 teams have laws and night vision and only 1 gose to red side while 5 gose to blue side. I would think to make things even the teams from blue should be Asked to have 2 go to red. However we have seen recently how the number of teams on one side Vs the other dose not always mean the side with the most teams or the larger teams will win. Recently 2 to 4 fairly small teams have been able to get the walk ons to work with the teams and pull of wins most were not expecting. So it is again proven that it is not so much who plays for who but the skill of the players and the abilty of the general and his command staff to rally and command the players that will show who wins.

Now that this poor thread is totally hijacked, I guess its ok to weigh in.
While I personally like to see the game competative. There have been several cases where SoVa has also switched sides to help even things out. We will continue to do so as needed.
However an issue I have with some of this is. What a good general does to prepare himself for his game. I have seen in the past where a general takes the time, to go out and pull teams in, get teams to play for his side, allign certain teams because of their strong points and then set up a plan for his game based on the teams he has taken the iniative to allign with. Only to find out on game day he is missing, one of more of the key elements he has based his pre game strategies on and had taken all the time and effort of his own accord to put together.
I do agree on keeping the game competative, however people that step up to volunteer to be a general need to be more aware of what is involved in accepting that position. Its very disenheartening for someone to put all that time in, to end up competing against another general that puts nothing into his/her preperation and end up using teams that A) May not have made it to that game were they not recruited by the first general B) were an integral part of the game strategy by the general that recruited them.
All too often I have seen this same situation arise. Which because of this, there are several experienced players who have stepped up to general in the past, that no longer wish to. Also I have heard from several others, that won't volunteer to general a game because of what has happened in the past.
I believe Ronn & Don have been very proactive this year in attempting to match perspective generals and thier abilities. Which has definately helped and will continue to do so. However, as we have seen in the past and we will continue to see in the future. There are those out there that will not, do not know how or just have procrastination as a middle name. Fall behind in preparing for thier game.
The only way around this, is to make sure that players stepping up to act as general are aware of what is expected of them. Possibly require them to act as an XO for a game before than can general? If nothing else, maybe a thread deliniating or establishing the expectations for one who generals and ways for them to achieve those expectations.
However, until you have all your generals working on the same page. You always will have the possibility of lopsided games, regardless of how hard Ronn & Don attempt to keep them even at the front desk.
The bottom line is, Ronn and Don put together the incentive package for Generals because of all the effort a general puts into his game. That in turn means the general should put in that effort!
Opps, guess I got carried away, guess I am a bit obsessed on this topic and I only said about 1/4th of what was going through my head.

This is a major sticking point on national level teams. Teams like WCM that use to drive 12+ hours as a team or fly to an event as a team, to play with/for a specific only to have swapping sides pushed onto us.
It's one thing to happen at your local home field, it's another to have it happen across country where you may not know other folks. People tend to sign up for a team not because of 'theme' or 'role characters' but because of the demeanor of the general on that side.
so...um...yeah...i agree with Al.

That is somthing to think about. I my self do not know much of what a general dose. I thought they try to get people on their side, once they know who is on their side try to figure out where to best place them. I know some teams are better at running and gunning while others are better at getting missions done and then there are those that want to Role play. So a general I thought had to find out who is best at what and place where they can do their best. Other then that I dont know what else they do. As for what is expected of an XO. I thought they made sure the missions were carried out and signed correctly, They made sure that the Base was secure and took over whenever the general had to leave the field.

On the pre-reg page it has Trojans and Spartans listed for Treasure Island. Is this correct for this game or should it be something else?

Weekend SplatBrothers® Scenario! October 17-18 Saturday, & Sunday Black Widow Company will be attending. I'm guesstimating that we'll have double the attendance, ~30 people this year. I look forward to serving with Red Devil this year. If I have that many people, I'm splitting my team into squads and our general can task us as needed. Regards, Juggernaut, Black Widow Company Commanding Officer www.the-bwc.com/smf

We are always looking to help players up their game by leading a game. There are excellent benefits that go along with the opportunity to General a game at SplatBrothers®. You and anyone else that wants to entertain being a General for a SplatBrothers® game should see Ronn for more details... -Twister
