MPP games do not allow for teams choice except for the General and XO, so yes planning is hard, but it works out. You can always send in the requests and they do their best to match them. At the Old BlackCat games we would get called by the director a few days before games asking us to switch or telling us we were switching to even out the sides. I have recieved calls from SplatBrothers and MXS asking us to play for a side that needed help due to a newer or lesser known general needing the help. Last year we asked to go to Nyxx's aid becuase we knew she would need it due to the previous outing she had at SB's. I have played in many games, especially at Splat Brothers where the games became heavily stacked in one sides favor. In those games it was not a whole lot of fun but we stuck it out and finished, we have even discussed switching sides to make the game more even, and I commend Social Hazzrd and A&B for both doing so last year. Recruiting is fine, build a decent army, but once you have have strong force, backoff let the other side get some players. I doubt many generals see this, but when one side takes "all the good teams" the games get boring, agrevating and drives away new players, if not from just the field but from the whole sport. All the walk-ons, usually newer players get placed on the side that needs help and typically get slaughtered with very few returning on Sunday. Hell even the Rats have bailed on Sunday's play when Saturday was such a freaking slaughter of the other team. So overall yes, recruit, we need players but maybe just recruit for the field, not your command. Trust me it works, and it makes the game alot more fun for all.

Very well said Jet. I think the first or second scenario I played at Splatbros was under your leadership, so I know from experience that you know what you are talking about. We at BWC have pretty much decided that it is in the best interest of the game to just go to whatever side we are needed on to make the best game possible. I have been in on those games that are lopsided, and you are right, it gets frustrating and even the best of players get tempted to give up. Here's to a good game with some good friends, because that is the whole point.

I as well agree with Pickle that it would make it very difficult for a general to do any pregame strategizing but on the flipside it would certainy make it more challenging I'm not disagreeing with you at all William. However, This team has generaled dozens of game both at Splatbrothers and other places. We have know that as soon as the birdbanger goes off, plans change. A good commander adapts and overcomes. Personally, I haven't made a detailed plan in my last 3 commands. It just doesn't make sense to get that wrapped up in planning. I have a basic strategy and then work from there. Again I want to stress THIS IS JUST MY OPINION. I understand any general recruiting and wanting to win. I really do. I'm just starting to think that the game is far more important than the victory.

Wallace, you are quiet welcome, it is well deserved, you guys rock. Deathonastick, it has always been a pleasure having you on my side, Coastie AMEN.
As to what Chowda has said, AMEN and pass the gravy. Very very few times have I ever laid a plan before the game went on. I bet 90% of the players who fought along side me at the games I have generalled will remember my first questions at the base, Who wants to run and gun? Who wants to run missions? And let's all have some fun....that is the most planning I get done. I know what teams I can always count on once we get to the field, I know who will try tricks and gimmicks (Bless you, Trapper, Coyote, Corndog and crew and Otto). Now for role playing trickery, yes I have made plans, had props built and figured out how to use them. But otherwise, no plans.

I had a tough decision to make, but is the only fair one I see.
I will be the third team. We will pretend that I'm Switzerland and very pissed off we weren't included in the 'fun'.
I do this as putting me on either side will be unfair to the opposite team. So I will destroy both sides and everyone will live happily under the Swiss flag, which will be redesigned with our famous bikini team. matter of fact, I think I shall make them my cabinet. or hide them in there...hmmm, to much to think about. Anyway, don't bother doing anything, preparing for utter destruction is a waste of your time.
That is all.
