I stopped by the real Malvern Hill battleground yesterday. Let me tell you, it was an eye opener. The ground that the Confederate forces had to push on is as tough as they seem to get. I give all props to the Union general for choosing his defensive position. Over 8000 people died at that site (3,214 Union and 5,355 Confederate). I was a bit in awe of that place, and it seemed surreal. There are some trees now where there was open farmland before, but with a little imagination, you can get the big picture. If you are ever in the area and have some time to walk the paths there, I suggest you do so. Because while we are playing a game labeled Malvern Hill... Thankfully we get to get up after being shot and head to the dead box to have a go again.

Very well said, Joe!!!
I have been there a few times over the years, Splat, and I too felt that awe. It was quite staggering to know I was standing in the exact place 9,000 Americans (yes Confederdates were Americans as well) gave their lives in defence of their nations.
Although it was labled as the one Union victory in the Seven Days campaign, I don't see any event where that many good Americas gave their lives as a victory. We truly owe these men our sincere best come gameday, anything less would be a diservice to the men who's final day we are portraying.

I will have to stop by The Malvern Hill Battlefield this weekend
I have been to all the Civil War sites in Hanover and although the terrain has changed a lot in the last 150 years you can still get a feeling of what our forefathers went through. Some of the worst fighting in the civil war took place in our own backyards. I agree with SplatThat and Farva that we should hold this game in reverence, remembering the sacrifices made and the American lives lost.
Thanks for the post Joe

Kudo's to you each. Its nice to know that there are other people who think deeper into what we do than just the slinging of paint. I commend Ronn & Don for utilizing our own neighborhood history for a basis of gameplay which in turn has given people the iniative to reflect on what others have done in the past to bring us where we are today.

According to the Malvern Hill and Seven's Days experts, this piece depicts a pretty a realistic portrayal of the ground, guns, and slaughter.
