It started as a normal day. Woke up, got ready for work, then I stepped outside. The air felt heavy, and it was considerably hotter, but I still went about my day listening to the radio talking about it being the hottest day in October setting the record at 93 degrees.
fast forward to when I was setting the last charge to a support beam. one of my pals started yelling his head off outside. I paid no attention to him cause he was always making a fuss and acting like a fool. so i go on pulling the last feet of wire out the doors when I noticed others were screaming as well. I turned around and saw my boss standing there, mouth gaping open, staring up at the sky. I followed his gaze and saw a huge mass of something up in the sky, it looked like a ship of sorts. At that exact moment it started to break up, hurdling giant chunks to earth. I overheard on the radio say, even though it was cutting out, that these ships were all over the world. And the U.S.A was now in marshal law.
Soon there were military trucks coming in and rounding up all of the men in the city. I was one of them, and I asked the soldier what was happening. All he told me was “it’s classified”, which meant that he didn’t know. with the sad, scared, and depressed look on his face; whatever was happening wasn’t good.
Later when the truck filled with people gets to the base a sergeant comes out and tells us that the president has issued a draft to “defend the world from invaders”. They had me working demolitions. Blowing up buildings and breaking them down into raw materials for barricades. That was just 3 hours. At four hours the nations had broken away from the U.N. and started launching missiles at each other. within minutes bustling cities turned into burning rubble, through all this we didn’t see not one invader.
After about a week of bombs, and explosions the world had run basically every resource dry. That is when all hell broke loose. Giant robots started sprouting up all over the place. Destroying national buildings, religious buildings, and basically any place people would go to hide. When they arrived at the base I ran to the demolitions armory where I go to get my explosives. I take a huge bag and fill it with stuff from the shelves hoping that something would be able to kill this thing. Well that plan went through the roof along with a giant metal foot. plan B, I open a trap door and stuff the bag in and run for my life. I hit the door and there are six aliens staring me in the face. I did what any natural person would. I knew I had no way to defeat these things. So I grit my teeth and kneel to them. They decided for some reason to spare my life. Years later after battling so many thoughtless battles they have given me my last role. They want me to be this spider man. Fine… I’ll play my part, but I’ll be d**ned if they are getting off this planet alive. I’ll make sure to that.
especially when the place they will have us battle at is at my old base. i do hope i can find that armory...
