July 25, 1943:
Today after being told by the King himself that the war was lost , and that General Pietro Badoglio would assume all responsibilities of the Prime Minister of Italy, Mussolini was arrested by Italian Police. This was a truly awesome moment for the Vatican City because, it showed that her people may not have to fight a war after all.
July 30, 1943:
I have meet with Prime Minister Badoglio, who assured my holiness that the Vatican City would be spared any further burden, and that power, and living essentials would be restored in a timely manner.

Aug 7, 1943
Upon entering the Vatican City today in retreat, two German Soldiers were fired on. One died instantly the other, lay in agony. Despite Vatican medical teams attempt to bring the man back to life, they realized that he would soon pass on. He lay in agony, begging for something to ease the pain but, due to the strict laws forbidding the wasting of antibiotics on those guaranteed to die he would finish his life in a high level of pain.
I would like this to serve as a reminder that though the Italian Government has failed, a state of war still exists between the people of the Vatican City, and the people of Germany, and despite being a papal state, the Swiss, and Palatine Guards will treat this as what it is.

Rumors of my capture may be stretched beyond belief, my friends have me protected from Pope Prius until his little Vatican Guards can be brought under control.

I would like to point out the many past lies this man has spread, and this is but another. I have confirmed with Prime Minister Badoglio, that in fact Mr. Mussolini, is still incarcerated, and awaiting trial.... BY HIS OWN PEOPLE.

Yet so incarcerated I can still send out my corrspondence. Do not feel so safe with you new friends, Badoglio will last so only as long as I allow him to sit in the front and pretend to rule. The Italian people still support their true Leader, I have brought them prosperity and pride while you do nothing but shame those who would have loved you had you not changed your ways and requested the aid of Invaders to Italian Soil!

You have purged 250-300 THOUSAND of your own people!? Where is the pride in having your father killed and knowing that you may be drafted and forced to protect the government that did it?

You know not of which you speak. Our People have grown and prospered under the rule I had been given by our people.

Yet you avoid the statement, and in the process fail to either disprove or justify what has happened under your rule. You fail to understand that any one can achieve what you have thus far by MURDERING all opponents but, a man which can do these things peacefully is the man who shall lead a prosperous state.
A States Prosperity is not measured by wealth, or achievements alone. It is measured also on the quality of life. When the murdering of your opponents (so much so that it actually lowers the LIFE EXPECTANCY OF YOUR NATION), means that you sir have failed as a leader.

I have murdered no one. Those who tried to undue the Government you recogonized and supported were removed as a threat. Such has been the way of things since ancient times. The Vatican is not so different.
