I've been playing for awhile now with an A5( all the scenario games at SB) and I want to invest a little bit more money and get a higher end marker. I was looking at the Etek 3 and others in that price range but I've never even fired anything other than a tippmann. I would greatly appreciate any tips or advice or marker suggestions yall have. I've put down below things I'm looking for in a marker and things I don't care about. I'll add more info if I think of anything else. I also use a remote line. Thanks for the help!
Things I want: Consistent ACCURATE shots. I want each shot to be the same as the last. I want to be able to unload some paint if I need to but I don't think I need a BPS too crazy. low maitenence, reliable and rugged.
Things I don't care about: weight, noise, milling, looks, the name, how much air it uses.

I just got the Etek 3 and I love it! at 500psi I'm still nailing shots at 100 feet. Also you can step into the impact zone of someone long balling you with an A5 and eat them up from the same distance. Its dificult to program and the factory barrel is alittle tight,I run a stiffi MF .691 barrel or a nitestick.

heard the g3 has solenoid issues? anyway anything from planet eclipse or dye will give you the accuracy and low maintenance you are after -as far as having each shot exactly as the last, it is in large part dependant on the quaility/age of the paint you are using. The best advice is if possible shoot the brand marker you are interested in before investing and if an electro marker is not a must have consider a phantom pump -they are very accurate.

Hi. Gray here from Black Knights... I went from A5 to Etek 2 years ago. My son also has an '07 Etek. They're great markers. Mine had an o-ring issue early on - long story, just weird circumstance - sent it to PE, had it back in less than a week, and it has not missed a beat since. My son's has also been stone-cold reliable.
Things to be aware of: after an A5, an Etek or similar marker is going to feel VERY awkward, and not having sights on top of the barrel will feel very awkward. You'll get used to it.
No safety. Get used to turning the thing on&off. After you shoot into the sleeve a few times, you'll remember.
We have Tadao boards in ours. They're great - easier to deal with than stock.
Hopper: go ahead and invest the $150 and get a Dye Rotor. 3 AA batteries last over 10 cases of paint. Nothing else comes close.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

Couple of other notes: I use a Freak kit with my Etek. Accuracy is great. My son stays with the stock barrel - he sees no point in spending more $ on a barrel; he's very pleased with the stock unit's accuracy.
I made my comments about hopper based on personal experience with Torque and Halo v35.

What did you learn here? Planet eclipse is the way to go. Just ask a PE. owner.

thanks for all the input! I'm definitly going to get a dye rotor from everything I've read here and elsewhere. I'm leaning towards an Etek but I have to wait a month to get all the funds together so I will continue researching. Thanks again for the help!

Colbert you can't go wrong with PE markers. The new Etek's impressed me very much when they first arrived in our stores, and after finishing the PE tech class at extravaganza they impress me even more. They aren't really that bad to program after you get used to them either, although it does take a bit to get used to. I would suggest the LT since it is a tad lighter, even though that wasn't one of your concerns, and you can always upgrade it with a AM package with a Emmortals board and gain the display at the same time. If you don't already have your eye on one give me a call at the store 757-488-2501 after 2pm, and I can get you set up in a package deal with a Rotor. Shipping isn't a problem either !

What did you learn here? Planet eclipse is the way to go. Just ask a PE. owner. Heck... just walk up into the Assault & Battery campsite ---- There are several of each type of Planet Eclipse marker you see here: etek etek 2 etek 3 Ego 6 Ego 7 SL74 Ego 8 SL8R Ego 9 I own an Etek 2 and an 08 Ego... and it's NOT just hype or "PE Band-wagoning" ... PE markers are everything on your "Want List" and include MUCH of what you say you don't care about --- specifically AIR Efficiency. I think Rue did a test one day and it was 22pods + 4 hoppers on a single 90/4500 fill.
