I also agree with Spud. When chosing a hopper, I recommend the Kingman FASTA hopper. They are only $80-$100, depending on which one you get. It says that it can feed 25 bps and so far it hasn't let me down.

I too agree with Spud......and predator and Coastie ......mostly . I think predator was right in the first thing you want is a clamping feedneck. Next a decent hopper which (if you don't know) is the plastic container on top that holds all the ammo. I prefer the Viewloader Evolution II. Which is called the Egg and sells for around $60. It's more than capable of keeping up with the Ion and pretty easy to find at Splatbrothers and other places. Next up would be Spuds suggestion of an on/off for your air. Oh duh Don't forget air. Ions won't run for long on CO2 so make sure you get a high pressure air (HPA)/ or Nitrogen tank (they're the same thing) for your gun. You can always rent one at Splatbrothers until you get the money up. Boards, barrels, bodies, bolts, triggers and QEVs are all places to look but try stock first and see if you can determine what you most want to upgrade.

Oops, I forgot all about the feedneck. That should be one of the first things. I, too, agree with Chowda, the Eggy is a great hopper (I don't know anything about the hopper Coastie suggested, so I can't comment). I also have had the Reloader II (don't get) and the Reloader B. The Reloader B is very good, although expensive, but the reason I switched to the Eggy, is that I like to play Hopperball (no refilling during a game) and the Eggy holds about 30 more paintballs than the Reloader B/Halo.
I gotta disagree with Chowda on one point, and that's the QEV. Personally, I think that should be the first upgrade. It's cheap and it will increase efficiency and protect the solenoid right from the onset.
I would never put CO2 on my Ion, although it should be able to handle it, to a point. But don't shoot too fast or you will freeze your orings.
So, have we confused you yet? We are very good at that. I actually confuse myself sometimes....

I disagree!!!
You MUST upgrade your board! Why?
Because you CAN! Who cares if it doesn't help in legal play. I want one because it makes me COOOOOL!
