I think a lot of us forget about the people who were actually involved in the events we base the R.A.W. games on, and how our lives as we know them are possible because of the sacrifices of so many before us, and the sacrifices being made by some of us today. Here is a good site that talks about Operation: Market Garden in more detail. It explains a lot of the history, and why Market Garden and the sacrifices of so many people there should be remembered. www.rememberseptember44.com/

Another interesting resource for Market Garden would be the movie "A Bridge Too Far" (...I love this flick!). HUGE cast of stars for the time it was made:
Dirk Bogarde James Caan Michael Cain Sean Connery Edward Fox Elliot Gould Gene Hackman Anthony Hopkins Hardy Kruger Laurence Oliver Ryan O'Neal Robert Redford
....The list goes on!
This from the package for the CD:
" In September 1944, flush with success after the Normandy invasion...the Allies confidently launched Operation Market Garden, a wild shceme intended to put an early end to WWII by invading Germany and smashing the Reich's war plants. However, a combination of battlefield politics...faulty intel, bad luck, and worse weather led to disaster.
An epic re telling of WWII's most tragic blunder, "A Bridge Too Far" meticulously depics the ambitious plan which resulted in more Allied casualties than the entire Normandy invasion landing. Painstakingly re-created on actual battlefield locations and boasting a remarkable all star cast, " A Bridge Too Far" accuratley re-captures the monumental scope, excitement and danger behind one of the biggest military gambles in history.
I grabbed my copy from Walmart, as a double feature along with "Battle of Britain"....another great flick.
