Please note the definition of a prop as pointed out in the GSRP
We don't plan on selling a megaphone, umbrella, or any of the sort.
If you push to get Megaphones, and Umbrellas checked in as props, we will push to get your Walki-Talkis, and Rainproof materials checked in as props.

Nooooo...that would be "INCORRECT". Anything out of the norm as far as uniforms, equipment, or gear... is considered a "P R O P". Personally I had no issues with the umbrella thing, but technically it WAS a "Prop". If clarification is really needed, we could ask Yote....but I honestly pretty much know what the answer is going to be.

Sounds to me like someone needs to reread and relearn the GSRP. I think someone might be color blind when it comes to rules versus gray areas. For shame...

"PROHIBITED EQUIPMENT:
Heavy clothing which is designed to promote bounces; shields of any kind; unbreakable trip wires; air horns; cylumes; knives; ropes; whistles; hot-burning smoke; pyrotechnics; firearms; laser sights; crossbows; sling shots; BB guns. When in doubt, ask the game management. Any device designed to raise or lower the velocity of a paint marker (tools, adjustable barrels without locking caps) are prohibited on the field of play. NO predominantly yellow or orange shirts, jerseys allowed. This is reserved for field staff and referees only. If this is in doubt check with event management.
Playing Tip: When in doubt on what is allowed or prohibited, ask game management."
....and, one more time. I really do not see much of a loop hole here.

Sasquatch...Captain America actually had that shield approved before bird banger...and if you want to take the rules "LITERALLY" then your goggles would hang in limbo because by definition they are shields...and yes I understand they have to be worn by another section of the rules...my argument stands in the section that rules are rules...but you can't take them as iron clad cause they have to be left to interpretation or else rules would fail...there has to be wiggle room for them to work and do their job.

...it was more of a "If anyone complains about the shield, you are out." I too was curious to see how long he would be able to run with it before someone said something about it. To my surprise no one did that I am aware of. Pretty funny. I think everyone thought it had to be a prop of some sort that the Americans picked up along the way, lol.
....and I do agree on the flexable thing, C-Dog....but no, goggles do not fall into that catagory. Thats reaching a bit.

Come on Kouza....no one here is buying into this for you guys.
As long as you were not penalized by the event staff for whatever items you ran with....I'd honestly let it go at that. I would seriously hate to see this turn into an issue with everyone due to a debate, and have yet more regulation forced on the players "to the letter". I personally got a chuckle out of both the umbrella, and the shield, as I am certain many players did. Be content with that.
Playing the "Grey" areas of the rules can be fun....but some rules can not be messed around with without causing damage to the sport over all. This is one of those times. "Drawing the line" would be appropriate here. Equipment and safety items should not be involved in the "mischief". Reserve this type of skirting the rules to on field maneuvers and strategies. No one wants more regulation on the sport...and this kind of debate is exactly what causes stricter play for ALL the players.

okay first being the person who played captain america i will state that my shield was not gear but was part of a costume that was approved by yote friday night and i was aware that if it caused problems i would have to lose it. if i set it down and paintball broke on it and i picked it up again i was out (like a pod pack.) If it effectively bounced paint (i had no idea whether it would or not) it would be treated like a ghillie suit where bounces would count. I personally think no one complained because im very good about calling myself out when im hit even if i cant tell if the shot broke.
second there is no room for anyone to try to make the case that a megaphone is a prop. Unlike a whistle or airhorn the megaphone's message cannot be mistaken. actually my megaphone (which anyone who has played with ofu lately knows i offer to our sides general) was, at the requests of the refs, used to quickly communicate the stand down orders during both emergencies yesterday.
third At 23 I am the oldest player on OFU, and since we are also primarily students first and ballers second our resources are severely limited. that said ofu learned a long time ago that a player on the field with no gun is worth any dozen sitting at home bc they couldnt get theirs working. We revel in our ability to use unorthodox means and equipment. We live for the gray areas and breaking out of the box. No one who has ever taken the field with us or against us can say that we are not only effective but deadly with or without a marker.
